Définition
Un colon dactylique est défini comme une unité rythmique correspondant à une partie d'un vers dactylique (hexamètre/pentamètre) délimitée par l'une des césures dans lesquelles le vers est divisé. Ces césures servent de points de suture (voir l'article sur les césures).
Pour l'hexamètre, le système de césures qui délimite les cola a été identifié par Fränkel (1926; 1960; pour C0 voir Bulloch 1970).

Le pentamètre, quant à lui, est divisé en deux colles séparées par la césure centrale (voir Martinelli 1995, 287):

Si definisce colon dattilico quella unità ritmica riconducibile a una parte di un verso dattilico (esametro/pentametro) delimitata da una delle incisioni in cui il verso si articola; le incisioni costituiscono i 'punti di sutura' dei cola (vedi la voce 'incisioni').
Per quanto riguarda l'esametro, il sistema di incisioni che delimitano i cola è stato individuato da Fränkel (1926; 1960; per C0, vd. Bulloch 1970):

A dactylic colon is defined as a rhythmic unit corresponding to a part of a dactylic verse (hexameter/pentameter) delimited by one of the caesuras into which the verse is divided. These caesuras serve as the 'suture points' of the cola (see the entry on 'caesuras').
For the hexameter, the system of caesuras that delimit the cola was identified by Fränkel (1926; 1960; for C0 see Bulloch 1970).

The pentameter, on the other hand, is divided into two cola separated by the central caesura (see Martinelli 1995, 287):
